Reading multiple choice
Find the proof line in the text. No proof, no tick.
The rule
- 1Read the question first, then scan for its key word in the passage.
- 2For every option, point at the exact line that proves it. If you cannot, it is wrong.
- 3Watch for traps: the option uses the same words but changes 'all' to 'some', or a cause to a result.
- 4In multiple-answer items a wrong tick cancels a right tick, so only tick what you can prove.
Worked example
The report states that most, but not all, councils increased funding.
- Key word: councils
- Option says 'all councils' — the text says 'most'
- Reject it
