Describe Image

Use one template every time: what it is → highest → lowest → trend → one sentence conclusion.

The rule

  1. 1Sentence 1: name the image. 'This bar chart shows … between … and …'.
  2. 2Sentence 2: the biggest value. Sentence 3: the smallest value.
  3. 3Sentence 4: the trend or the comparison between them.
  4. 4Sentence 5: a one-line conclusion. Keep talking for the full 40 seconds — silence scores zero.

Worked example

A bar chart of coffee sales by month.

  • Name it
  • Highest: July
  • Lowest: February
  • Trend: rising through winter

Answer: This bar chart shows coffee sales by month. Sales peaked in July and were lowest in February.
